Known as one of the most recognizable chefs on the Austin culinary scene, Rene Ortiz has made an indelible mark with his vibrant and global flavors. In 2016 Rene's neighborhood cafè, Launderette, was recognized by the James Beard Foundation as a Finalist for "Best New Restaurant". He is also chef and partner of Fresca's Chicken al Carbon, a casual dining concept focused on Mexican pollo al carbon, which recently opened its second Austin location. Previously, Rene was nominated for the James Beard Foundation Award for "Best Chef: Southwest" for his work at Austin's La Condesa and Sway.
